SYSTEM ENQUIRIES

How do I get activated for Van and Business Car?

For all Software Houses (SWH) you need to contact RSA By email at etrading.team@uk.rsagroup.com.

If you do not have a Software House, you may still be able access our products via Policyfast who can be contacted on 0800 308 1137.

We have changed our Software House system. Can the policy continue?

If you need to process a mid-term amendment on a policy prior to renewal, you must contact RSA to make all alterations until the next renewal date. Please ensure you issue cover notes where required.

At renewal all existing policies will have to be reissued as new policies via your new system.  Provided there are no changes to the policy, you can match the new business premium with our invited renewal using override code ‘EDIRNL’.

If you are unaware of the invited renewal premium, please contact us  via etrading.team@uk.rsagroup.com.

The Policyholder wants to transfer their policy to my agency mid-term. It is currently held by a different Broker. What do I need to do to get the policy transferred?

Where can I access your Policy Wordings?

Our policy wordings are available via www.rsabroker.com/products.

If you require a supply of policy wordings, email us at etrading.team@uk.rsagroup.com.

I am processing a quotation however it is a No Quote what do I do?

If the quotation is declining and all the information is correct, then this is not an acceptable risk for RSA.

PREMIUM ENQUIRIES

New Business

How long are RSA new business quotes valid for?

RSA quotes are valid for 30 days

I want to accept a quote within the 30 days validity period, but the RSA screen rate has changed. What should I do?

To match the premium, please override the new business rate, using the override code ‘EDINB’ and retain a copy of the of the Software House quote for audit purposes.

The new business premium RSA are quoting is expensive. Can RSA reduce the premium to secure the business?

No, we always quote our most competitive premium.

I am looking to provide a quotation for a customer with a previous policy cancelled by an Insurer, can RSA quote?

No, this would not be eligible to RSA.

MTA

I am processing a policy amendment mid-term but the system-generated change in premium seems incorrect. What should I do?

Please proceed at the system generated premium. Our rates are updated and tested on a frequent basis so we are confident that they are correct.

I want to arrange temporary cover. What are the prices?

We can provide cover for temporary additional vehicles and foreign use.  Please refer to the rating tables provided.

Renewal

The renewal premium invited is much higher than last year. Can RSA reduce the premium to secure the renewal?

Van renewals that are effective 01/08/2019 (or after), or Business Car renewals that are effective 01/09/2019 (or after) are being invited with premiums in line with recent rating reviews. Whilst we are unable to reduce the renewal premium offered, you are welcome to requote the case as new business. If the RSA new business rate is more competitive, you can accept this and issue a new policy (provided both quotes are like for like). Please note the old RSA policy number on the new policy record. There is no requirement to contact RSA for authority to do this.

Can I override the invited renewal premium to match the RSA new business rate to avoid issuing a new policy?

If the preference is to renew the policy, but take the New Business price, please use code EDIRNL  and retain a copy of the New Business Software House quotation for audit purposes.

We have changed our Software House and are rekeying policies at renewal. Can we match the new business premium with your invited renewal premium?

Yes, provided no changes have been made. To match the premium, please override the new business rate, using the override code ‘EDIRNL’.

If you are an OpenGi user you will need to provide us with a partial key and we will provide you with a verification code, please contact our eTrading team and one will be provided for you.

Cancellation

I am cancelling the policy however the system generated return premium seems incorrect. What should I do?

When you process a cancellation, the system will calculate the correct pro-rata return premium.

Do we allow Return Premiums when cancelling a policy mid-term if there has been a claim?

Yes. When you process the cancellation on your system it will produce a pro-rata return premium.

What do I need to do to cancel or lapse a policy retrospectively?

If the policy cancellation or lapse date is in the past, please email us at etrading.team@uk.rsagroup.com.

Please remember that RSA have an obligation to update the Motor Insurance Database (MID) within 7 days of the transaction effective date.

NCD

If I am accepting a customer’s proof of NCD, how recent must it be?

We will not accept proof of NCD if it is older than 2 years from the expiry date of the previous policy.

Can I accept NCD that has been earned abroad?

No, NCD earned outside the UK is unacceptable.

Can my client have Introductory NCD?

Introductory NCD is only available on Business Car Policies.

The eligibility criteria:

  • Driving is restricted to Named Drivers, all over 25
  • All drivers must have held a full UK or EU licence for at least one year
  • All drivers must be free of accidents and losses within the last 3 years
  • All drivers must be free of convictions in the last five years although we will allow one minor conviction (e.g. speeding)

My client’s proof of NCD has come from a fleet policy. Is this acceptable?

If the fleet experience specifically refers to the vehicle and driver to be insured, and confirms the number of years claims free, you can proceed with the same number of years NCD.

Otherwise, email us at etrading.team@uk.rsagroup.com.  Please include the policy number and vehicle registration number with the fleet experience, to allow us to consider the number of years NCD that can be allowed.

Can my client have Protected NCD?

It can be added at the inception or renewal of the vehicle cover. Provided the following criteria is met:

  • All drivers must be aged 25 or over
  • The proposer must have 4 or more years earned NCD
  • No more than 1 'at fault' or 'NCD affected' claim, across all drivers, within the last 3 years

What happens to protected NCD after a claim is made?

The Policyholder's No Claims Discount will remain at its current level, provided no more than two claims (either at fault or where no recovery was made, but excluding windscreens) have occurred in a 5-year period.

After the second claim, the PNCD benefit no longer applies to the policy and so will be removed at the next renewal. If a third claim was to occur, the NCD would be stepped back by 2 years. The step back table is shown in the policy wording.

How do I request Proof of NCD?

If the policy is due for renewal, and proof of NCD is required, the level of NCD held is shown on the renewal invitation.

If the policy has been cancelled mid-term, proof of NCD can be requested by email. Please email us at etrading.team@uk.rsagroup.com.

Please include the policy number and vehicle registration number. Proof of NCD will be released as soon as the policy is showing as cancelled.

OCCUPATIONS

Will the customer get cover to use the vehicle in connection with their occupation?

Yes, provided the occupation is eligible. Our products provide cover for use in connection with the Policyholder’s business. We do not provide cover for use in connection with anyone else’s business. If the quotation is declined it means that the occupation is unacceptable to RSA.

Is the occupation relevant if the quote is for social, domestic and pleasure (SDP) purposes only?

Yes, both personal and business occupations are considered if quoting for SDP only use on our Van product. We may be able to quote some occupations for SDP only use that are ineligible for Business Use (e.g. Retired).

Do we need to advise RSA if the insured has had CCJ’s, Bankruptcy?

No.  Credit scoring is an external rating factor which applies to EDI Van and Business Car quotes and automatically rates accordingly. Credit scoring is used in quotations and will indicate, and rate on, previous insolvencies, bankruptcies and CCJs. This means that we do not need to take any further rating or eligibility action if any of these are disclosed.

All drivers with motoring convictions must be named on the policy. If the conviction is eligible, they will be covered to drive.
