Changes to No Claims Discount Protection Information on Motor Policies

On 1 August 2016 the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) Private Motor Insurance (PMI) Market Investigation Order 2015 comes into force. The Order applies to private motor policies in the name of an individual and requires that a set of information is provided to customers when an NCD Protection offer is made to them:

  • the specific price of NCD Protection
  • two statements providing information about NCD Protection
  • a table summary of the average discounts that were given to policyholders in the previous year
  • a personalised NCD step back table showing what would happen to their NCD if they had claims in the next 1, 2 and 3 years

Although we are not required to comply with the Order in respect of our Commercial Vehicle products, we have chosen to include this within our system development, so more of your customers will benefit from the information about NCD Protection. To ensure that you are able to receive this information, please make sure that your Software House platform has been updated with the latest CMA compliant release. We've been working with them to ensure the amendments required are live by 1 August 2016.

The 2015 average NCD tables for our Van and Business Car products are available for information purposes, and for our Personal Motor products, please contact your RSA Relationship Manager.
